What is Alkali-Silica Reaction?
Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) or pool cancer is a chemical reaction that occurs between the alkalis in cement and the silica in certain aggregates used in concrete. When water enters the concrete, this reaction creates a gel that expands, causing cracks and other forms of damage.
